Above & Beyond

We aim to make Tarrytown a better place to live for all residents by creating and improving public facilities, arts programming, and community engagement that goes above & beyond Tarrytown’s annual budget.

OUR MISSION

The Friends of Tarrytown Parks & Recreation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit run by Tarrytown residents whose goal is to support arts and recreational programs, celebrate our village’s rich cultural heritage, and foster a healthy, thriving community.

What We Do

The Friends of Tarrytown Parks & Recreation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit run by Tarrytown residents whose goal is to support arts and recreational programs, celebrate our village’s rich cultural heritage, and foster a healthy, thriving community.

Improve Facilities & Parks

Park benches, fields, trails, playgrounds, and structures need more attention than the Village can reasonably afford. The Friends will identify key projects that make our gorgeous parks and public spaces better for everyone.

Fund the Arts & Scholarships

We will fund, facilitate, and promote arts initiatives that celebrate Tarrytown’s rich diversity, culture, and history. We will also create scholarship opportunities for Tarrytown students who exemplify our Village’s high water mark for academic, artistic, and cultural achievements.

Support for Events & Initiatives

From tentpole events like the Halloween Parade to community gatherings like Mother’s Day Brunch and art crawls, the Friends will support existing activities with funding, operations, and marketing.

Proposed Initiatives

Bench Repairs and Replacements

We aim to keep our park amenities accessible to all Tarrytown residents by ensuring that they are in good condition. Benches in several of our parks need repairs not covered by the Village budget.

Athletic Field Upgrades

Our local athletes deserve facilities that match their hard work. We will invest in our ballfields and other local sports complexes to ensure every athlete gets the best experience.

Patriots Park Pavilion

Our “north-star” project is to build a permanent pavilion in Patriots Park that can be used as a performance stage for arts programming, concerts, and holiday celebrations, as well as a year-round pavilion for community and family occasions.
